Retiree Meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of the month.  Traditionally, meetings are NOT held in the months of July, August and September.

Meetings will resume this year on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM.

Special events every year are the Summer Picnic held during the month July and the Retiree Christmas Party which is held in December at the Hearthstone Manor.  This year, the (2010) tickets for the Christmas Party will be available at the Retiree union meeting starting at October 12 meeting. Each ticket cost $20.00

The Christmas Party is on December 19th 2010. After October 12th tickets for this event will be sold at the Union Hall by members of the Retiree Executive Board every Monday and Thursday between 1PM and 3PM.  (Except Thanksgiving Day - 11/25/10).

Ticket sales for the Christmas Party MUST END at the December Retiree meeting on December 14th(No tickets sold after that date)

New Tuition Assistance Program Guidelines for ATap & ITap

(ATap) – Active Employee Tuition Assistance Program

(ITap) – Inactive Employee Tuition Assistance Program

Benefit Levels: Tuition Assistance benefit levels established in the 2007 UAW – GM National Agreement language, Applies for active and laid off employees. Classes are limited to degree program classes and classes designed to improve your skills and knowledge in work related subject matter only. The final decision for class approval lies with the CHR.

Application Process : All classes must be approved prior to start date even if seeking reimbursement, Tap is designed to be a pre-paid program. Tuition reimbursement is only available when the approved school does not accept a Tuition Assistance Approval voucher.

Tuition Assistance Forms : forms will be available in the Education & Training Dept. in the back of Plant 1 or you can download forms using the link on the, JAS Web site ( www.uawgmjas.org) the on line application process is not available at this time. The Tuition Assistance applications must be mailed or faxed to the UAW-GM Center for Human Resources no later than 21 days but no earlier than 90 days prior to the start of the class.

Tap Notice – The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for active employees has been reinstated effective August 1, 2010 for class terms beginning on or after August , 2010

It is important to note that the TAP guidelines, policies and procedures have changed.

Program guidelines and eligibility will be communicated to your Local Tap Administrator and then published in tap folder located in the online documents section of Joint Active System JAS (website) https://www.uawgmjas.org/j/

In the near future we will begin accepting applications following the newly established program guidelines.

DSP Notice – The UAW- GM Dependent Scholarship program (DSP) unfortunately is still suspended. Any change in the status of DSP you will be notified immediately.

Retirees Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Dependent Scholarship Program (DSP) unfortunately are still suspended.

New Engine Investment

Our community has been on the receiving end of some truly great news in the last few months with the announcement of $825 million dollars of new investment in the Tonawanda Powertrain facility. With this General Motors has made a significant statement to us, believing in our community.Most people are unaware of the amount of hard work and dedication our workforce has contributed, it is the behind-the-scene effort that has been needed to make this happen. This was a complete team effort from employees to GM corporate, to the UAW International level. Yes, the entire Union system was needed to make this great investment happen for our community.
